Prof Wan Mohtar, the EVSB expert on fermentation technology and wastewater treatment has been providing service to several glove manufacturing plants in Indonesia (Sumatra) and Malaysia to design effluent treatment systems.  An example of this successful venture in Malaysia was with Perusahaan Intan Emas at Branang Malaysia. Prof Mohtar had very successful partnerships in Medan, acting as expert consultant to Pt Buana Multicopra, Pt mandiri Inti Buana and Pt.Mahakaya Inti Buana.

During the Covid-19 Restricted Movement Order (RMO), a few of EVSB experts contributed to frontliners in providing personal protective equipment (PPE). Prof. Zainudin and colleagues at the Faculty of Engineering and the Built Environment, UKM ,provided face shields using 3D printing which was distributed to several clinics and the UKM Hospital. He was also involved in designing the head cover for the PPE equipment, specifically for surgeons and doctors in the labour room.
